The ECG app is another fantastic feature supporting our consumers on their health and wellness journey providing deeper insight into their inner health. The app allows you to record your heart rhythm and check for signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). What is ElectrocardIogram (ECG)
An ECG is a recording of the electrical activity of your heart. Doctors use ECGs to help identify potential heart rhythm abnormalities.
How it Works
The ECG app uses sensors on your compatible smartwatch to record the electrical signals that control how your heart beats. This recording is known as an electrocardiogram, or ECG. The ECG app analyses the recording to get your heart rate and detect signs of an irregular heart rhythm called AFib. AFib rhythms occur when the upper and lower chambers of your heart are not beating in sync.
Important
The ECG app is a Class IIa medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) (EU) 2017/745. The ECG app is capable of recording an ECG similar to a Lead I ECG and detecting the presence of atrial fibrillation or normal sinus rhythm. The ECG app is only intended for adults aged 22 years and over. Always follow the instructions for use. The ECG app is not available in all regions and is only available on select Garmin smartwatches with the latest version of the Garmin Connect smartphone app and watch software.
