Evolution 9 ‘Ushio’ Blue Spring Drive Diver’s Watch

This timepiece is named ‘Ushio’ – the Japanese for ‘tide.’ The textured blue dial design is inspired by the richly biodiverse sea around Japan with its strong currents surrounding the unique shape of the archipelago which greatly influenced the development of Japanese nature and culture. The Grand Seiko watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is regularly represented in their designs – from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature.

The SLGA023G is powered by the latest iteration of the unique in-house Spring Drive movement that generates energy like a traditional mechanical watch but combines this with an electronic regulator for superior precision and accuracy. The signature of Spring Drive is the smooth motion of its second hand which moves in a silent and beautiful glide motion, rather than the second tick of a quartz watch or the rapid beat of a mechanical watch. Now relaunched, revamped and redesigned: the next generation Spring Drive Calibre 9RA2 is slimmer, with an impressive power reserve of 120 hours and even greater accuracy of -/+10 seconds per month. Slimness is achieved with an Offset Magic Lever that reduces the movement’s depth by 0.8mm compared to our core 9R range. The 120 hour power reserve is achieved through Dual-size Barrels arranged to allow for expanded capacity in a smaller space while the One-piece Centre Bridge guarantees the movement’s strength, durability and shock resistance.

This timepiece has a water resistance of up to 200m and the case and bracelet is made using a high-intensity lightweight titanium.
