The Seiko 5 Sports SSK001K1 draws inspiration from the iconic SKX models first released in the 1990s, which modernised the much-loved originals from the 1960s. The SKX range was known for enhancing practicality with improved durability, stronger crystals, enhanced water resistance, and highly visible luminous hands and markers. These wearable and dependable values remain at the heart of today’s modern Seiko 5 Sports designs.

Designed for practical international timekeeping, the SSK001K1 features a bi-colour 24-hour bezel coated in Hardlex for added durability, alongside a GMT hand that improves visibility and legibility. This combination allows multiple time zones to be read quickly and easily at a glance. Staying true to SKX heritage, the distinctive “beads of rice” bracelet features a five-piece link design that creates a series of small X-shaped patterns, blending classic styling with everyday comfort.

The hands and indices are coated with LumiBrite, Seiko’s fluorescent luminous paint that absorbs light energy and glows brightly and for longer in low-light conditions. Backed by over fifty years of Seiko 5 Sports heritage, the SSK001K1 reflects the collection’s renowned reliability, durability, performance and value. The “5” represents the five defining features still present today: automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown, and a durable case and bracelet.
