The Seiko Astron SSH183J1 is born from Seiko’s passion for innovation and created under the design theme of Solidity, representing the future of advanced watchmaking. Limited to just 1,200 pieces worldwide, this solar-powered timepiece combines lightweight construction with a bold, durable presence, crafted from super-hard coated titanium with an aluminium and ceramic bezel and protected by dual curved sapphire crystal glass.
The silvery grey dial features an orange-accented vertical subdial layout and a horizontal line patterned solar cell, giving the watch a striking and contemporary appearance. Its sleek lines, slim profile and compact, angular design create an almost seamless flow from the case through the lugs to the bracelet. Designed with a low centre of gravity for enhanced comfort, the bracelet is crafted from titanium and ceramic for lightweight wear, while a micro-adjustable clasp allows for a more personalised fit.
Powered by the new in-house 5X83 solar movement, the SSH183J1 charges efficiently and features a high-precision 1/20th of a second chronograph for measuring elapsed time. The subdial at 12 o’clock displays the chronograph, the 9 o’clock subdial controls mode selection, and the 6 o’clock subdial provides a dual-time function. As part of the Seiko Astron collection — the world’s first GPS solar watch — it is powered by light and automatically adjusts to the exact time using advanced satellite technology.
