The Seiko Presage Classic Series SPB537J1 is a refined Craftsmanship model that pays homage to Seiko’s rich heritage in timekeeping, inspired by the pocket watches created during the Seikosha era in the late 1800s. This elegant ‘Tonneau’ style design reflects Seiko’s transition from repairing timepieces to producing them, capturing the spirit of early Japanese watchmaking with a distinctly classical aesthetic.

Drawing direct inspiration from the first Seikosha pocket watch, the ‘Timekeeper’ launched in 1895, the dial and numerals echo historic design codes. Beneath dual-curved sapphire glass sits a white enamel dial adorned with bold Roman numerals and a practical 24-hour subdial at 6 o’clock. The uniquely shaped tonneau case – named after the French word for barrel – features gently convex edges and a super-hard coating to enhance scratch resistance, delivering both durability and timeless style.

At its heart, the SPB537J1 is powered by an in-house crafted 6R5H automatic calibre, offering dependable mechanical performance with an accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day and a three-day power reserve. Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern precision, this Presage Classic Series timepiece perfectly embodies Seiko’s philosophy of timeless design, precise mechanical watchmaking and a refined Japanese aesthetic.
