The SSC957P1 is a striking limited edition collaboration that blends modern watchmaking with iconic car-making heritage, inspired by a bold 1960s design era. First introduced in 1969, the Seiko Speedtimer marked a major milestone in Seiko’s watchmaking history, launching in the same year as Nissan Motor Corporation’s ‘Datsun’—Japan’s leading sports car brand—creating a shared legacy of innovation and performance.

This special edition draws inspiration from the legendary Datsun 240Z, also known as the Fairlady Z, which famously won the 1971 East African Safari Rally while adorned with Seiko logo sponsorship. Reflecting the resilience, reliability and high performance of the winning rally car, the watch incorporates authentic design elements including the original colour scheme, instrument panel-inspired fonts and the DATSUN logo on the dial. A bi-colour aluminium bezel with tachymeter enhances its motorsport character, while a 3D emblem of the winning car and individual limited edition number are engraved on the case back.

Powered by an in-house V192 solar chronograph movement, the SSC957P1 charges from both natural and artificial light, delivering an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and a six-month power reserve at full charge. Presented in a dedicated limited edition box, this Seiko Prospex timepiece—short for ‘Professional Specifications’—is designed to be practical, reliable and durable, meeting the demands of sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
