The SSH165J1 marks a major milestone as the first GPS Solar Chronograph within the Prospex collection, representing the most advanced chronograph in Seiko’s history. Building on a legacy of world-first achievements, this next-generation Speedtimer combines cutting-edge watchmaking technology with design inspiration drawn from the iconic 1972 monochrome ‘Panda’ chronograph, complete with distinctive orange accents that echo the original style.
Beneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal glass, the white-silver dial features a dual-time display, high-speed time zone adjustment and a time transfer function for enhanced everyday practicality. A chronograph scale on the inner bezel supports precise measurement, while UTC time zone markings positioned on the side of the bezel improve legibility of the stopwatch functions.
Powered by the in-house 5X83 Solar GPS calibre, the SSH165J1 measures elapsed time up to 1/20th of a second and delivers accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. Conveniently solar-powered, it charges from both natural and artificial light and offers a power reserve of up to six months at full charge. True to the Prospex name, this timepiece is designed to meet professional specifications for reliability, durability and performance in demanding environments.
