Introducing the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster HBF002J1, a limited edition professional diver’s watch inspired by Seiko’s historic 1968 innovation—the world’s first hi-beat Diver’s watch. Carrying forward the iconic case design of the original Marinemaster and its 300m water resistance, this timepiece celebrates Seiko’s deep heritage in diving watchmaking. Developed in collaboration with JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), it draws inspiration from Japan’s first icebreaking polar research vessel, the “Mirai II,” reflecting the spirit of ocean exploration and scientific discovery.

The dial of the HBF002J1 is designed to evoke the journey of an oceanographic research ship cutting through ice, featuring a thick transparent coating polished to a deep, lustrous finish. Beneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal, the blue gradient dial offers a satin-finished, professional-grade texture engineered to reduce light reflection and enhance underwater visibility. Built for extreme diving conditions, it features strong Lumibrite for exceptional legibility, a unidirectional rotating bezel, ISO Diving standards compliance, a ceramic insert bezel, and a super-hard coating for superior scratch resistance. The streamlined case also includes a crown positioned at 4 o’clock for enhanced comfort.

Powered by Seiko’s highly capable 8L45 calibre, this Prospex diver delivers outstanding performance with an accuracy of +10/-5 seconds per day and an impressive 72-hour power reserve. Handcrafted at the renowned Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Japan’s Iwate prefecture, the movement is built for reliability, precision, and durability in extreme environments. Completing the design is a robust bracelet with a three-fold one-push sliding micro-adjustable clasp, while the caseback is engraved with “JAMSTEC LIMITED EDITION” and its unique limited edition number. As part of Seiko Prospex—short for “Professional Specifications”—the HBF002J1 embodies strength, functionality, and adventure-ready engineering for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
