The SLA079J1 pays tribute to a groundbreaking moment in Seiko’s history, inspired by the world’s first hi-beat Diver’s watch introduced in 1968. Retaining the iconic Marinemaster name from Seiko’s professional diving heritage, this modern re-interpretation features a case design drawn from the original model and delivers the same formidable 300m water resistance.
Protected by a dual-curved sapphire crystal glass, the black dial is finished with a subtle sand-like texture to ensure high contrast and clarity under water. Every element is optimised for serious diving use, including a streamlined case, a comfortable crown positioned at 4 o’clock, powerful Lumibrite for visibility in low-light conditions and a unidirectional rotating bezel in line with ISO Diving standards.
At the heart of the SLA079J1 is the in-house 8L35 calibre, engineered specifically for professional divers. Crafted at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Japan’s Iwate prefecture, this robust and reliable movement offers an accuracy of +15/-10 seconds per day and a 50-hour power reserve. As part of the Prospex collection, it reflects Seiko’s commitment to professional specifications, durability and performance for demanding environments.
