The SPB501J1 is a Seiko Prospex diver’s watch created in collaboration with PADI, the world’s most recognised diver training organisation. Drawing inspiration from Seiko’s first-ever diver’s watch introduced in 1965, the legendary ‘62MAS’, this model reflects the origins of Seiko’s diving expertise. The original timepiece proved its reliability in extreme environments, worn by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition and explorers tackling the most demanding conditions on Earth.
Crafted from stainless steel with a super-hard coating, the watch features a distinctive green dial inspired by the view of the ocean surface as seen from beneath the water, with sunlight breaking through. Designed with legibility in mind, the date display is positioned upright at 4.5 o’clock for easy reading. The robust build and thoughtful detailing underline its professional diving credentials.
Completing the design, the short-pitch bracelet includes a micro-adjustable clasp for enhanced comfort and is supplied with an additional matching green strap made entirely from recycled fishing nets. Powered by the in-house 6R55 automatic calibre, the SPB501J1 delivers accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day, a three-day power reserve and water resistance up to 300 metres. As part of the Prospex collection, it embodies ‘Professional Specifications’ through practical, reliable and durable performance for sports lovers and adventure seekers alike.
